Comments

  1. Does the product image import support a URL for the image source? My product feed has a URL – would really like to just include that in the CSV and not have to download it first and then upload.

  2. Hi Michael

When I use the choose image function to upload my images it does not create thumbnails – I have retried and same thing – can you please help – I have sent you login ftp and all details still waiting for a reply???

  3. Just bought this plugin, I know that there is a link for a sample CSV, that link takes me to a page with all the information on it, it does not give me a sample CSV, can you place a link to the sample CSV that actually downloads the CSV?

  4. WordPress 3.2, wp-ecommerce 3.8.5, gold cart 2.8, just bought your productimporterdeluxe-2.8.4.6 for $100 and it doesn’t load. I’m testing it on localhost:8888 and get this message “The plugin does not have a valid header.” took it out, reloaded, took it out reloaded, etc. etc. redownloaded from your site, reloaded, same message.

    • Hi Lee, I put my development sites together under the same environment, please re-download the latest copy again as it’s possible it was corrupted on download, if this fails I can package up a new copy and send it to you to see if that assists. 🙂

      • same thing, I installed a new wordpress even and the same issue of “The plugin does not have a valid header.” This was with a new download from your site, one from the email link and one from downloads page. I have cleaned out the plug form inside the wordpress folder. I’m sure your program works but not for me yet. Is it due to using localhost:8888 ?

  5. Hi Michael,

I have WPEC 3.7.8 running with 650 products on a client site

Want to upgrade & also thinking about upgrading to a new faster server

Wondering if there is a way to export from 3.7.8 store and then use your importer to
rebuild the new store on whatever version of 3.8 is best.

    Using WP 3.2. Your thoughts?

    • Hi Jason, you’re best setting up a staging site with a cloned WordPress database then updating to the last 3.7 release as that’s the one we’re compatible with before you do the upgrade. Any questions fire away on the Forum or Premium Support 🙂

  6. Hi Michael,
    Hope you enjoyed your trip.

Here is some background information. Some of my downloadable products contain variations. The main product has a master SKU number and each variation within the main product has it’s own unique SKU number.
I’m trying to link a different downloadable file to each variation unique SKU. The plug-in doesn’t seem to be able to link the downloadable file with each variation. Is this possible? If not, is this something that will be added to the plug-in?

    Thank you,
    Jackie

  7. Hi there,

Just noticed that the “Local shipping” values aren’t coming through in the product import. They all default to 0.

    Cheers

    Simon

    • Thanks for the heads up, sorted in the upcoming 2.8.4.7 Plugin update. Looking at third-level sub-category support; almost got it stable! Expect an update available tomorrow 😀

  8. Does this allow for the upload of multiple images per product or just 1 image per product?

    • Hi Chad, at this time only single Product images are supported by the ‘Upload an image’ form at import time, the CSV filename method supports multiple Product images separated by ‘|’ (pipe) characters (e.g. image-1.jpg|image-2.jpg, etc.), you upload the Product images manually via FTP and then import your CSV file with filenames included as above 🙂

I’ll be adding multiple Product image upload support once I’m back in Australia as will work with a jQuery developer on this feature.

  9. I’m still having problems with weight unit. The latest update (2.8.4.5) now imports the correct weight unit but it is doing something to the value. If I put a “1” and “Ounces” in my CSV, what shows up in the product after import is “16 ounces” Obviously the importer thinks I meant one pound and converted it to 16 ounces. HELP! I want to use the plug-in to get my site up but can’t do so.

    • Hi Bill, I’m looking at this issue today. We’re storing the data correctly within WP e-Commerce (e.g. 22000kg) but at presentation time it’s going screwy. I’ll have this sorted in an urgent Plugin update 🙂

    • Hi Bill, turns out WP e-Commerce 3.8 runs a new wpsc_convert_weight() function over the weight and stores it in pounds; not sure why, will found out next visit to Instinct next month 😐

Merging weights isn’t working in WP e-Commerce 3.8 until I add code to convert the now pound weight back to the provided weight unit, compare it, then store the new pound value. I’ll fix this up today and get it out with the next Plugin update; bringing back third-level sub-category support 🙂

  10. dear Micheal
can you fix your site about sample for use this plugin i have money to pay for it but i need to test it 1st

and with your plugin i will nuke my website and start a new in rapid process
(My websites has broken with i changed so much categories and get errors in Products page)

  11. Hello,
I’m experiencing a few problems with the Product Importer. If this helps, my site is running WordPress 3.1.3 with WP E-Commerce 3.8.4. The downloadable files, images and thumbnails are loaded to the server via Filezilla. Also, your last version of the importer is also loaded on my site.

I understand that some of the problems might be the difference between e-commerce 3.8 and earlier versions. Here are the problems.
    1. After submitting multiple CVS spreadsheets, none of the downloadable files have re-hash.
    2. The images and thumbnails were loaded to uploads/wpsc/product_images and thumbnails. Tried multiple times to link the uploaded images to the products. Instead of linking the images, the following error occurs — Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #2 is not an array in /home1/ ….(removed portion of address)…../wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce/wpsc-admin/includes/display-items-functions.php on line 1020. As a result, I have to remove the image error and then manually update the image. After a little research, I discovered that when I manually upload the images; they are placed in the uploads/2011/06 (current month) folder. Should the images be loaded to a different folder to allow for auto-linking?
    3. One of the upload CVS sheet created items but they are not visible as a Published Product or as a Draft. Could you provide the codes for the Product Status? (I’m hoping if I submit another CVS via the merge the items will be visible.)

Someone else mentioned she was interested in a sample variation CVS file. I am also interested in a sample file. (A lot of the downloadables on my site have variations.)

You mention that the training/instructions were in the process of being updated. Do you have an approximate date when they might be done? (Note: I understand writing instructions take time.)

Thank you for your time and support,
    Jackie

    • Hi Jackie,

      In WP e-Commerce 3.8 file downloads aren’t hashed, they’re stored in plain-text within /wp-content/uploads/wpsc/downloadables/.

I’ve updated the documentation on how to manually upload Product images, in WP e-Commerce 3.8 Product images are stored in /wp-content/uploads/%year%/%month%/, also, no thumbnails are required as WordPress automatically generates them. As you’ve probably found out this should fix your argument error as WP e-Commerce was ‘looking’ for the Product images but could not find them so stored the size array incorrectly.

I’ll be uploading later today a new sample CSV that takes advantage of the latest additional fields including Comment Status and Product Status.

I’m heading into Cambodia in the next few days so will be focused on documentation now that the 3.8 Plugins are starting to stabilise; a bit more work needed on Product Importer Deluxe to clear up the weight and third-level sub-category support. Documentation should be visible in the following week.

      • Thank you for you assistance. Hope you enjoy Cambodia. From pictures, it looks like a beautiful country.

  12. Will the Delux Importer all me to use image paths outside the domain? One path for thumbnail and one path for Default Image?

    • Hi Beau, drop your Product image URL in the CSV Image column and use the ‘external Product URL’ button within Import Options to bring in images from URL’s outside the domain. You only need to specify the original URL as thumbnails are automatically generated. 🙂

  13. Is there anyway to upload both “Variations” and the “Permalink Slug” in a CSV upload? For example if the “Variation” for an item is “Colors: Red, Blue and Yellow” and “Sizes: small, medium, large” how can I include this in my CSV to have it update a specific item? I assume I could have a column called “Variations” that could update this field, if so, what format would I use to setup the Variations, i.e. “Color” “Red” Blue” “Yellow” or Color Red Blue Yellow.

Likewise, is there a way to upload slugs for the permalink directly from the CSV?

    Hello,

I've purchased this product and it's working fantastically, a little slow importing/merging change, however this isn't an issue.

Please can you point me in the direction or provide information for adding additional import field, I've purchased a plugin called Product Price Info and would like to bulk import this information.

    Thanks in Advance.

Hello, iv been first using your plug in since it was first developed. I have 22 woocommerce stores with over 10,000 products a store. So i have a lot of importing to do. Once woocommerce came out with their own i started using theirs but its been no where as good as yours. With their plug in i can only import upto 50 products at a time and i keep getting duplicates that drive me annoying. I have to convert 1' 9MB excel file into 1,000 excel files. With your plug in i just keep importing the same excel file and it keeps importing without any doubles. Your picture placing is easier and i like your excel format. Its so much better than Woo's and i have so much to import. Thank you for your work and keep it coming :)

Can I declare sub-categories and establish parent-child relationships with the included Product Category Importer for WP e-Commerce?

Roger that, when declaring a child Category ensure you use place an '>' (arrow) character between the parent and child. With the release of 2.6.5 you can drill down up to 3 levels deep, for instance:

  • Clothes>Men>Casual within the Category column of your CSV file will link a Product to Clothes, Men (as a sub-Category of Clothes) and Casual (as before).
