  1. Importing categories (985 lines csv file) with v2.8.2 …

    After 35 minutes (!!), I get 300 categories. 1,520,555 records created in wp_wpsc_meta table (!!!!)

    Is it normal ?

    • Trying then to import products:

Results : 0 new entries have been added – with 195 products skipped – to your products list.

Because : Could not find a Category by that name (for each product).

    • Hi NicoWeb,

Woah! Can you please send me your CSV file to reproduce this issue, from a guess each Product Category creates between 10-20 records within wp_wpsc_meta (expecting ~15,000 records) but 1,520,555 is ridiculous; there must be an endless loop!? Let’s sort this out and get a Plugin update out the door, thanks NicoWeb.

      • I sent you the CSV file by mail. did you get it ?

    • Hi Mongkol, my suite of WP e-Commerce Plugins displays in U.S. English by default, that said all Plugins support language files (.mo) which I’ll be encouraging community involvement in my overhaul of the documentation section here on Visser Labs.

      • is that mean support Thai language? when i type a product name your plugin will show it ?

unlike importer default from wp e-commerce that
does not show and delete Thai language, in all column (product name, product description , etc)

      • Hi Mongkol, my suite of WP e-Commerce Plugins displays in U.S. English by default, that said all Plugins support language files (.mo) which I’ll be encouraging community involvement in my overhaul of the documentation section here on Visser Labs.

US displays is ok for me what i want is Product name and other column shows Thai language

  2. Hi Michael,

    whats about the variant import?
Does it work with 3.8 ?
And do you have a sample CSV File for the deluxe importer including variant import?
    Thx for your reply.

    • Hi Mark, now that 3.8 compatibility is here I can focus on Plugin enhancements and issue tracking, Product variation support is a head-liner going forward which Ill draft a CSV format to help store owners prepare their data file for import with Product Importer Deluxe. 🙂

  3. Hi Michael

do you have a sample CSV File for the deluxe importer including variant import?

    T-Shirt – red 1.99$
    T-Shirt – blue 2.99$

    T-Shirt – red – large 1.99$
    T-Shirt – red – small 0.99$
    T-Shirt – blue – large 2.99$
    T-Shirt – blue – small 1.99$

  4. Trying the new 2.8 plugin version. Impossible to activate because of an error :

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wpsc_get_major_version() in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/sandground/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce-product-importer-deluxe/product-importer-deluxe.php on line 16

    Testing on WP 3.1 – WP e-Commerce 3.8.3

Am I doing something worng ?

  5. WP e-Commerce 3.8 support coming soon ?
We are all looking forward to testing the new and expected 3.8 version.

    • Hi NicoWeb, the 2.8 Plugin update will be available this afternoon, I’m doing a phased release, starting with 2.8 then rapid minor updates as I introduce new WP e-Commerce 3.8+ features. Thanks for your patience, I’m confident this update is going to put the Plugin back on the 3.8 map! 😀

      • Hi trovar, sure have! I’ve been delayed working on the Category linking feature as well as Product image import which I’m now working to sort, the 2.8.1 Plugin update will be available in the next 24/48 hours resolving these issues. 🙂

  6. WP e-Commerce Forum down?

I *never* got this to work…have high hopes for the update, so I echo previous question…when will 3.8 be ready??

    • Hi Mike, I’m in the process of restoring the Support Forum, for now drop a comment or shoot me an e-mail from the Contact page.

The WP e-Commerce 3.8+ compatibility Plugin update will be released as a private beta tomorrow with an official release this weekend, my goal for last week blurred over as other Plugin priorities took over, I’ve been busy porting changes across and throwing my all into Plugin updates lately. 🙂

      • Hi Michael,

if the beta is finished I like to try that one too. Or is the official release finished soon?
I’m waiting so long to make a mass import.

    • Hi Tracey,

The demo site is offline at the moment, I’ll be restoring it in the coming days after Plugin updates across the suite settle down 🙂

  7. Hi Michael!

I’m planning on starting an affiliate website… could I use this plugin?
The datafeeds/.CSV-files I get have an external URL (with the affiliate link) and external images. Could I upload those?

And after uploading the .CSV-file, how does the result look? I mean, the actual products 🙂

    • Hi WebshopsandWishlists, sure can, if you’re using WP e-Commerce 3.7.8 or earlier you can jump in now and have your Products and Product images – imported from your external image URL’s – set up in a snap, if you’re already on 3.8 uninstall and roll back to 3.7.8, import your categories and products then update to 3.8 🙂

If you’re not in a rush I’d recommend holding off until 3.8+ support is announced, that way there’s no chance of conflicts during the 3.7 -> 3.8 upgrade; I’m sweating code to get this next Plugin update rock solid before release.

  8. Do you think it’s possible to automate the process of uploading price and quantity data using this Product Importer Deluxe?

I plan to get a CSV file deposited via FTP to my server every hour.

How would I get that data into E-Commerce automatically? I have a feeling a CRON job would work?

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    • Hi Miles, thanks for the suggestion. I plan to integrate code from one of my earlier drop-shipping store manager solutions for WP e-Commerce into Product Importer Deluxe. You’re right a CRON job function would be best, I’ll look at the best way to do this further down the line.

Right now I’m focussed on preparing the Plugin update for 3.8+ support, once this is out the door I can focus on feature enhancement. I’m releasing the Product Categories Importer update today and planning for release this weekend for Product Importer Deluxe. 🙂

  9. I would like to see how this will look after I import my info. If you could help it would be great.

    • Hi Aaron, happy to step you through it, it’s very simple to build an Excel column-based file and export as a CSV file then import it, try the sample importer then buy when you’re ready! Hope this helps 🙂

  10. Michael,

Is it possible to use category ID instead of the full category name? It would be nicer and easier to enter.

    Thanks in advance

    • Hi Daniel, will do, I’ll add a check for integers prior to processing the Category. This feature will be introduced after the initial WP e-Commerce 3.8 support. 🙂

  11. Hi Michael

    news about 3.8?
Your 3.7 Plugin is not working under WP-E-Commerce 3.8 anymore.
But we have to update a lot of Products asap.

  12. Just to inform that today : There is an Error in the premium-plugin-updates after introducing session ID.

Fatal error: Unsupported operand types in /httpdocs/wp-content/themes/twentyten-something-new/functions.php on line 32

Can I declare sub-categories and establish parent-child relationships with the included Product Category Importer for WP e-Commerce?

Roger that, when declaring a child Category ensure you use place an '>' (arrow) character between the parent and child. With the release of 2.6.5 you can drill down up to 3 levels deep, for instance:

  • Clothes>Men>Casual within the Category column of your CSV file will link a Product to Clothes, Men (as a sub-Category of Clothes) and Casual (as before).
