We tried out several product import Plugins and WC Product Importer Deluxe is by far the best. Michael was/is extremely helpful in assisting us with minor problems in our data. He responds quickly and is very knowledgeable. We highly recommend this product.

  4. GB Tim

Just wanted to say that I've tried one or two other import / export plugins for WC but Product Importer Deluxe is by far the best, particularly as it also comes with a license for Store Exporter Deluxe. I've found it very simple to use. It works with minimal configuration and it's saved me a huge amount of time. I must also add that Michael has been incredibly helpful too. Recommended.

Hello, iv been first using your plug in since it was first developed. I have 22 woocommerce stores with over 10,000 products a store. So i have a lot of importing to do. Once woocommerce came out with their own i started using theirs but its been no where as good as yours. With their plug in i can only import upto 50 products at a time and i keep getting duplicates that drive me annoying. I have to convert 1' 9MB excel file into 1,000 excel files. With your plug in i just keep importing the same excel file and it keeps importing without any doubles. Your picture placing is easier and i like your excel format. Its so much better than Woo's and i have so much to import. Thank you for your work and keep it coming :)

    Hi Michael

    Any news on 3.8 support?

  2. Bruno US Bruno

    Hi!

I would like to import similar products but of different sizes. In other words (ie, juice in 6oz, 12oz, 16oz, 200oz. What is the best way to combine these products into the same product listing. So they appear on the same product page but with different size options.

Just looking for best practice/most efficient manner to do this. I have over 3000 products to import and many have these size variations.

    Thanks!

I,ve tried to use your demonstration site of Product Import Deluxe for WP e-Commerce with your original sample CSV, but it came this error:

“Insuffient data was provided. Please ensure the required product import fields are available and have been matched”

    Any help,

    Thanks,

    Sandra

    • Michael Visser au Michael Visser

Hi Sandra, I’m in the process of updating the demonstration site of Product Importer Deluxe to support the 2.7.2 Plugin update. It will be working tomorrow.

    • Michael Visser au Michael Visser

      Hi Sandra,

I have upgraded the demonstration of Product Importer Deluxe to match the latest release, also, it now displays within a ‘mock’ Administration, this way you can see exactly how the Plugin behaves prior to purchase. 🙂

  4. Ben Bruno US Ben Bruno

Actually, I am having the similar issue michael but it pertains to the category importer. Did some testing with the new category importer. It worked fine. Imports the categories but the screen that tells you how many have been added and how many were skipped, does not show.

    • Michael Visser au Michael Visser

Hi Ben, can you confirm whether all Products/Categories have been imported after the screen goes ‘blank’, if it’s failing midway-through then it’s the above issue; exhausted memory or you?ve exceeded your maximum time limit for processing the data.

Can you send me a copy of your CSV file as I’ll use this to reproduce your issue and see what I can tweak within the Plugin to get around the timeout issue.

  5. NicoWeb ES NicoWeb

    Hi Michael,

The two Plugins (product and category importers) are not responding when the amount of category or product is over 1500/2000.

I have been trying on 3 different servers reducing step by step my initial quantity of products (over 12.000 books). Even on a local server with over 256 Mb of memory with a fresh instalation (WP, e-commerce and the 2 plugins), then splash screen confirming the end of import process never shows up.

Is there any particular reason for this? Am I doing something wrong ?

Than you for your help and great plugins

    Nicolas

    • Michael Visser au Michael Visser

Hi Nicolas, can you please get in touch as I’ll work to reproduce the issue with your CSV file in my own development sites. The empty screen issue is typical of either exhausted memory or you’ve exceeded your maximum time limit for processing the data.

  6. Robert US Robert

    Ok,

Not sure if this problem is me, wp-e-commerce, category uploader or product uploader. Maybe all of the above!!

here is the page I am talking about:

    http://www.photoconcept.net/avenger-light-stands-booms-clamps-more-from-photoconcept/

    I added the category code

    [wpsc_products category_url_name=’avenger1′]

to show all the products under the manufacturer “avenger”, they show up OK but the pagination will take you to a 404 error.

    any thoughts on that!!!!!!

    • Michael Visser au Michael Visser

Hi Robert, can you open Store > Settings > Admin and hit Update Page URLs and Fix Product Group Permalinks to rebuild pages and category permalinks within WP e-Commerce then give it another go.

I’m sure pagination works within WP e-Commerce 3.7.8 so it could be related to the permalinks issue, see the forum topic:

      http://64.207.152.104/wp-ecommerce/forums/topic.php?id=90

      • Michael Visser au Michael Visser

It seems like it, without confirming its possible pagination doesn’t work with the category shortcode so it’s defaulting to the default ‘All Products’ view on consequent pagination.

Hold off until 3.8 goes official then upgrade, I’m getting on the boat as soon as it’s stable.

  7. charlie brumfield US Charlie brumfield

if you check out the front page of http://www.jcloutdoors.net we have a script (not a plugin sorry about that) that pulls the first pic in a post and uses it for a preview type thing. when i dropped in 3.8 the store front works great but the front page throws an error translates as the $id parameter in what ever function is on line 425 of (i think it’s) function.php is undefined. i’d love to be more specific but i’ve been staring at code all day and i can’t remember the exact error. i do know it’s the $id parameter for what ever function starts on line 425.

    • Michael Visser au Michael Visser

Without more details it’s best to raise this with GetShopped on the Support Forum when it’s back up. If it were a Plugin you were using I could raise a bug report so others are aware of it and get a fix out, possibly your script it out of date for WordPress 3.0.4

  8. charlie brumfield US Charlie brumfield

scratch that. 3.8 interferes with another plugin i have to use so it’s back to 3.7

    • Michael Visser au Michael Visser

I’m aware the GetShopped.org Support Forum is down at the moment, what Plugin is conflicting with WP e-Commerce 3.8? I can raise a bug report if it helps. 🙂

  9. charlie brumfield US Charlie brumfield

    hi michael,

i finally decided to say screw it and give up on WPeC 3.7 and install the 3.8 beta since it’s SOOOOO much better and i really don’t want to have to redevelop my store’s theme once it comes out. anyway i should have everything wrapped up in the next day or so with the theme and i was wondering if there was a beta version of the 3.8 uploader to play with or will the 3.7 one work? been afraid to try it as i don’t want to break anything.

    charlie

    • Michael Visser au Michael Visser

      Hi Charlie,

I’m pretty excited to get out of 3.7-turf too, more WordPress features to call on rather than re-inventing the wheel. Since the WP e-Commerce 3.8 upgrade script migrates all Products/Categories, etc. while leaving existing 3.7 Product/Categories details intact in their old tables you can import with Product Importer Deluxe then hit Store Upgrade from the Dashboard menu and it will bring across all 3.7 details into 3.8.

I’ve been testing this upgrader with Instinct for some time so if you run into any issues let me know via the forums and I’ll open a bug report. I’ll be looking at a native importer for 3.8 later this month.

  10. NicoWeb ES NicoWeb

I have a 12.000 products CSV file (9Mb) to import.
    I also have a define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘128M’) with a clean WP and e-commerce installation.

When trying to import, the script stops after about 3 minutes. The splash end-of-task screen never appears. A few 500 books are imported.

I’ve been decreasing the number of products (books) step by step until about 2000 when the import finally worked completely.

I have been making different tests : updating records, importing from scratch.

Any suggestion ? Am I doing something wrong?

    Cheers
    Nicolas

P.S. I tried to open a new topic in the Support Forum but it doesn’t work now. It was working this morning

    • Michael Visser au Michael Visser

Hi NicoWeb, I’ve added a site override in this latest release to extend the length of time that Product Categories Importer and Product Importer Deluxe run for to 600 seconds (10 minutes), this can be changed to 0 which will force the importer to keep running until it completes its task or consumes all available memory.

This change should resolve your timeout issue.

    • Michael Visser au Michael Visser

Thanks for the heads up on the Support Forum, I’ve installed some security Plugins to limit possible breaches via bbPress. Let me know if it’s still playing up for you. 🙂

  11. Nicolas ES Nicolas

    Hi Michael,

My CSV file is over 8Mb. Is there any way to upload via FTP ?

    Thanks

    Nicolas

    • Michael Visser au Michael Visser

      Hi Nicolas,

There is no limit imposed by Product Importer Deluxe on the size of CSV file uploaded, that said, there are standard PHP values within .htaccess to allow larger filesize uploads and longer form processing times. Open a Support Forum topic and I’ll drop the .htaccess snippets for you.

  12. Michael Visser au Michael Visser

Hi Ben, I’m getting there. I’ll have an early beta to send in the next few hours. I’ve rebuilt the Category parent linking function, as soon as your CSV file sticks I’ll make a Plugin update available. 🙂

  13. Michael Visser au Michael Visser

Hi Greg, I’m working to resolve a priority issue in the Product Categories Importer affecting Parent Categories, soon as this is out of the way I can switch.

I haven’t forgotten about custom fields support and hope to bring this out before the new year; how’s that for a commitment, I’ve got most of the functionality working just need to finalise the Product meta creation. I’ll send you an early release in the coming days as I’d be keen to hear how it goes.

  14. Robert US Robert

    Michael,

I inserted tags and separated them by “|” but tags never showed up after successfully uploading the csv file. the products show up but the tags don’t show up.

    any thoughts.

    thank you,
    Robert Kapatais

What are the required product fields within the CSV to be imported?

The minimum data requirements for importing new products are:

  • Product Name

The minimum data requirements for merging Product changes are:

  • SKU

We recommend providing as a minimum for an operating store the following Product fields:

  • SKU
  • Product Name
  • Category

  • Quantity (for stock limited products)

What import methods are available?

  • Import new Products only

  • Merge Product changes only

Do you have a sample master products CSV file for Product Importer Deluxe?

Sure do, sample import files are available from the Product Importer Deluxe > Usage page.

Can I link a Product to multiple Categories/Tags/Images, etc?

Sure can, just put a '|' (vertical pipe) character between each item, currently all of the above are supported. In a near future Plugin update multiple file downloads will also be included.

Can I declare sub-categories and establish parent-child relationships with the included Product Category Importer for WP e-Commerce?

Roger that, when declaring a child Category ensure you use place an '>' (arrow) character between the parent and child. With the release of 2.6.5 you can drill down up to 3 levels deep, for instance:

  • Clothes>Men>Casual within the Category column of your CSV file will link a Product to Clothes, Men (as a sub-Category of Clothes) and Casual (as before).
