  1. Hi Johann, from memory there is no filtering on the Product Name so it may be part of the CSV reading function that’s stripping it out. I’ll see what function is filtering that character out and add an international language option at import time in the next Plugin update.

  3. Thanks Michael,

Just keep me posted when it’s ready. I am ready to start adding the whole database to my site.

    thank you,

  4. Hi Robert, now that the category-linking issue is on it’s way to being resolved I’ll reintroduce that code for Brands and push out another update before support for WP e-Commerce 3.8. I’ll do that later this afternoon.

  5. thanks Michael,

what about the (Brands) group, Nothing I did made the Brands “sub group” get created.

The “Brands” group already exist and has brands already, i.e. Canon, Nikon, Pentax etc. and I am trying to add the above.

the Brands group would be a parallel group, such as

    Binoculars & Telescopes>Microscopes & Accessories|Brands>Astrodon

do you have any thoughts about that.

  6. Hi guys, I’ve been banging my head against the wall since the weekend, you can now link Products to as far as 3 levels deep, with more to come once I switch to a recursive solution.

    This means:

    Crossbow>Scope>10x – will work (3 levels)
    Binoculars & Telescopes>GPS / Rangefinders / Outdoor – will work (2 levels)
    Binoculars & Telescopes>GPS / Rangefinders / Outdoor>GPS Accessories – will work (3 levels)

I’ll continue to enhance this category linking feature in future Plugin updates, for now ensure you set the base Parent Category (e.g. Crossbow) and then build up with your Categories (separated by ‘>’ for sub-categories). Hope this helps, thanks for your patience.

  7. Robert – have not really spent much time with the tags.

  8. Thanks Bruno,

I just noticed the Tags were not imported on the products side.

I had them separated with ” | ” (pipe) just like the sample csv file.

    any thoughts about that???

      • Ok, the tags were imported but they were imported (as is) with pipe shown.

meaning I got one tag like so:

        Tags Used
        X Flash|Lighting|Light Stands and Grip|Light Stands|Brands|Avenger

the sample csv file uses pipe to separate them, should I use commas instead??

  9. don’t even bother with this plugin until the newest update. It will cause you nothing but frustration and anger.

Michael is currently working on the categories to try and straighten them out.

If you have say Crossbow>Scope>10x and another category Scope>Rangefinder>10x its going to default bad. It will not import the 10x in both spots because it all ready sees it as a category. So when you import the category it will start dropping sub categories.

    • Ok,

I am getting confused a bit. is this issue in the (category importer) or the product importer????

Do you mean that if I import the product per your example it will default to the 10x.

Michael, you were on the 22nd you were saying you are four hours away to fixing the bug, could you give us a status please.

      Thank you,

      • Hi Robert, I’ve sent you an e-mail.

The same category-linking on unique categories issue affected Product Importer Deluxe as well as Product Categories Importer. Both have now been resolved. Please confirm.

I’m aware of a permalink-related issue which I’m working with you to resolve, my suspicions are it’s to do with the Product Category name. I’ll keep this page up to date as well as the Blog.

  10. Holly molly!!!

That is the best $95.00 I ever spend. I am still experimenting with 6 items at a time, the product importer worked great LOVE IT.

but the category thingy is giving me a hard time. I am tied to import the following file:

    Binoculars & Telescopes>Microscopes & Accessories
    Binoculars & Telescopes>GPS / Rangefinders / Outdoor>GPS Accessories
    Binoculars & Telescopes>Telescopes and Accessories>Telescope Accessories
    Brands>GGI International

The Brands are refusing to show up under the Brands group!! the first time I imported the file, I got the (Brands) showing up under categories. then I separated the files and imported the Brands by themselves hoping they would show up under the Brand group but still no luck, they just don’t show up.

Any thoughts what am I doing wrong???

  11. Hi Robert, no need for Gold Cart unless you’re assigning multiple Product image filenames via CSV, in the future I’ll add support for manually importing multiple Product images as well as File Downloads using this method.

For now I’m working hard to resolve the category-linking issue affecting sub-directories, I’m making process (reduced the number of duplicates) and will make an urgent Plugin update ASAP. Thanks!

  12. Michael,

Ignore my questions, I found the answer in the sample file I downloaded from your documentation page, the sample-deluxe1.csv file has all the answers. I’ll purchase it tonight.

do I need the GoldCart for this plugin? (I had to ask something. LOL)

Can I declare sub-categories and establish parent-child relationships with the included Product Category Importer for WP e-Commerce?

Roger that, when declaring a child Category ensure you use place an '>' (arrow) character between the parent and child. With the release of 2.6.5 you can drill down up to 3 levels deep, for instance:

  • Clothes>Men>Casual within the Category column of your CSV file will link a Product to Clothes, Men (as a sub-Category of Clothes) and Casual (as before).
