  1. Michael:

How large of an upload file (either in # of products or MB) can the Product Importer Deluxe handle? I’d like to use it to upload a very large number of products and trying to determine how many smaller files I’d have to break my file into.

    • Hi RGR, your import file size is limited by your server, by default on some shared hosting options this is sometimes only 4MB but can easily be increased; I’ve seen stores accepting CSV files above 200MB.

Do keep in mind that for very large CSV Files you’ll need to increase the import timeout from 10 minutes to a longer time; I suggest 60 minutes and just let the importer do its thing. 🙂

      • Michael:

Thank you for your prompt response to my question. One additional question – can product description & additional description fields be formatted in HTML?

        • Hi RGR, sure can, I’ve added in a filter so that the columns don’t conflict but if you find you are having trouble let me know as it may need some tweaking. All the best. 🙂

  2. Is there any way to upload google meta descriptions for the google product feed via this plugin?

    • Hi Kyle, if you can provide me the specifications for this I may be able to add support for this in a future Plugin update, I’m not familiar with how the Google product feed works so assistance/examples would be welcome. 🙂

  3. Hi Michael,

I am trying to import categories, but it appears the importer does not create duplicate sub categories of the same name. For example

‘fourlegs’ would get created under Cats, but then not under Dogs or Horses.
Even though these subcategories are under different categories they have the same title and so don’t import when I do a category import, despite showing on the ‘pre-import’ page – any idea how to solve this?

Also, it appears this is somehow affecting the import of products themselves. Even if I then go into categories and manually add the extra subcategories that got missed, they don’t get products imported into them.

    Thanks for your help.

    • Hi Isabella, thanks for raising this. Can you please send me your CSV file as I’ll use this to tweak the sub-category detection in the next Plugin update. Thanks Isabella. 🙂

  4. following Error after Import a csv File with image Path

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /is/htdocs/…/testshop/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce-product-importer-deluxe/includes/import-products.php on line 579

    • Hi Stephan, this could mean the image doesn’t exist or insufficient permissions were set on that directory. Please get in touch via e-mail and be sure to attach your CSV file. Thanks Stephan.

  5. We are using wholesale pricing as well as product importer. Anyway we can upload the individual wholesale price of each product via csv?

  6. Michael,

Do you have an update on the progress on importing/handling variations via your .CSV Importer?

  7. Hi all, i´ve 2 questions, please help me

    1. how can i add variations like Size: XS, S, M, L, XL to each product ?

    2. to import products and categories, could i import the categories only using the tool products with info categories? or need to import the categories with the other tool product categories too?

    thanks for all in advance,

    • Hi Michael, you can create your CSV using your preferred spreadsheet editor; e.g. Excel. I’ve provided a sample CSV below which makes it easy to create your Product list. Hope this helps! 🙂

    • Hi Ryan, the demo site is down since migrating to Media Temple. I’ve pulled the details from my site. Feel free to contact me for a trial, I’d be curious to compare Jeff’s importer to my own; I’ve baked some pretty sweet features into my importer. 😉

  8. Can this import html code into the description and/or additional description fields? The standard wpec import function converts all html code tags to the respective symbol’s entity name so it’s not recognized as html code and just appears as text. It used to work fine in 3.7 but not in 3.8.

    • Sure can Grant, make sure you strip out any comma’s though (or your preferred column delimiter) as they cause hell with the import process. I like to convert special characters to their HTML equivalent as entities are converted back to special characters at import time 🙂

  9. Fatal error on v2.8.7 plugin activation (WP 3.2.1)

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare wpsc_pc_insert_wpsc_meta() (previously declared in /home/content/98/5629098/html/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce-product-categories-importer/includes/release-3_8.php:13) in /home/content/98/5629098/html/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce-product-importer-deluxe/includes/release-3_8.php on line 42

    • Hi NicoWeb, make sure you have deactivated Product Categories Importer; Product Importer Deluxe now includes Product Categories Importer under the single Plugin. 🙂

  10. Hi Michael,
You mention that the deluxe version can import from ‘external’ URL. Does this mean that it can import an image from a remote server (another site) and save/crop to my server?

  11. Variations support would be great. Below are a few specific suggestions…

    – allow the cloning/copying of variations so an established variation can be used and renamed/edited vs having to type 80-90% of the same information in again

    – Allow variations elements to be inserted/sorted. That way on products with many variation if a data entry error/omission is made it can be easily correct vs having to deleted everything below it and retype in

    – Allow variations to be uploaded with product information vs having to go into every product after you have uploaded them and associate the variation with the product.

  12. Hi,
    I just bought Your plugin..
    seems great..
But when I want to re-hash my downloadables product, I got a
You don’t have enough permissions to acces this page..?

    Do you have a clue..?

    • Hi Stephane, can you please let me know what version of WP e-Commerce you’re using, I’ll reproduce this fault and fix it in the next Plugin update.

I've purchased this product and it's working fantastically, a little slow importing/merging change, however this isn't an issue.

Please can you point me in the direction or provide information for adding additional import field, I've purchased a plugin called Product Price Info and would like to bulk import this information.

    Thanks in Advance.

Hello, iv been first using your plug in since it was first developed. I have 22 woocommerce stores with over 10,000 products a store. So i have a lot of importing to do. Once woocommerce came out with their own i started using theirs but its been no where as good as yours. With their plug in i can only import upto 50 products at a time and i keep getting duplicates that drive me annoying. I have to convert 1' 9MB excel file into 1,000 excel files. With your plug in i just keep importing the same excel file and it keeps importing without any doubles. Your picture placing is easier and i like your excel format. Its so much better than Woo's and i have so much to import. Thank you for your work and keep it coming :)

Can I declare sub-categories and establish parent-child relationships with the included Product Category Importer for WP e-Commerce?

Roger that, when declaring a child Category ensure you use place an '>' (arrow) character between the parent and child. With the release of 2.6.5 you can drill down up to 3 levels deep, for instance:

  • Clothes>Men>Casual within the Category column of your CSV file will link a Product to Clothes, Men (as a sub-Category of Clothes) and Casual (as before).
