Below are working APN details for Telecom XT in New Zealand. I gleaned these working details off a soon to be released Motorola build running Eclair (2.1).

No Plans for Windows Mobile 6.5 on Xperia X1
Straight from Sony Ericsson’s Contact Center for Australia:
Unfortunately there are no plans to release Windows Mobile 6.5 for the Xperia X1 at this stage. However the X2 is planned to be released in Q1 (quarter1) of 2010 with WM 6.5 pre-loaded.
You know you’ve gone and got the wrong phone when you have to null your warranty just to run the latest Windows Mobile 6.5 – that works fine by the way… – on your stunner Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, I’m keeping my eye out for Android on the X3… Sony Ericsson, join the team and release an official 6.5 upgrade.
HTC Sense coming to Windows Mobile
HTC have announced the Sense UI used in Android will be coming to Windows Mobile so get ready to switch between Manila, Sense and Windows Mobile default user interface! 3 epic choices!
According to this recent HTC press announcement…
[...] all new HTC devices moving forward” will get the new system, which integrates Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and other widgets into the homescreen.
“Debuting on the HTC Hero and available on all new HTC devices moving forward, Sense delivers on three basic principles: Make it Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected”
There’s no announced timeline for Windows Mobile devices using HTC Sense, but the previous mention that all new phones “moving forward” is a great sign!
Quadronica games gets arcade touch on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1
SPB Quads is the new arcade game from SPB Software that runs sweet on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 in which one has to put together all his/her pattern-finding skills to score.
There are two modes – a time-limited mode and an endless, “strategic” mode – in the game, my favourite is time-limited as you have to be a touch ninja to get a decent score and your heart rate kicks up!
From the horses mouth…
A player’s goal in this game is to reveal and mark rectangles’ corners of the same colors in a field filled with color bricks, thus “destroying” them and earning scores.
The graphics and animations are superb and this is a great time killer when you need an alternative to Solitaire, just make sure you mute it if you’re in public… you know the drill! Download the CAB now.
Silvermoon for Windows Mobile developers
Silvermoon is rocking the WinMo news world seeing its first public light allowing developers to take advantage of transitions, alphablending and other effects like the iPhone within their applications.
Silvermoon is being developed on a Sony Ericsson X1 phone!
This is the first beta release of Silvermoon, a collection of windows mobile compact framework 2.0 controls to build modern user interfaces with transitions, alphablending and other effects.
Check out the YouTube video or Silvermoon page for more information, Microsoft I hope you’re watching this…
TouchFlo 3D with integrated Twitter
The latest Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM’s leaking out from HTC with TouchFlo 3D (Manila 2.5) baked in are popping up with an integrated Twitter tab, similar to SenseUI. Check out my favourite Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 ROM, ITJE’s Touch-IT Leo 6 ROM or NRGZ28′s customised EnergyROM.
Touch-IT Leo 4 for Xperia Announced
True to his word, XDA Developer turned exclusive HTCPedia.com publisher, itje, has released the 4th edition to the Touch-IT LEO series for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1.
Under the hood Touch-IT Leo 4 (latest version 4.2) is running Windows Mobile 6.5 and a modded HTC Manila 2.5 – with landscape support and experimental “gSpot” sensor-rotation support – as the Titanium (Today screen) replacement. This is in my view the best custom Xperia ROM running WinMo 6.5 to date, it’s running the 23037 build with the new bottom buttons as well as slidable tabs.
Known issues:
- In the TF3D Calendar tab the first months show a black background
- Add/remove locations in TF3D Weather tab causes TF3D to freeze
- TF3D Local Time Settings shows a blank screen
- Setting an alarm with TF3D shows a blank screen (Go to Settings > All Settings > Clocks & Alarms or download gAlarm)
- Have to soft reset the Xperia for new applications to show in the Start Menu
- The TF3D Music tab in landscape layout is a mess
- In TF3D Music tab scrolling through album covers sometimes freezes
- Holding down the hang up key does not lock the screen (Install HTC End Key or csdevctrl. Install Long Press End Key then go Settings > All Settings > Personal > Buttons > Long Press End Key >Set “Automatically execute the selected action:” to Lock device)
- Changing the TF3D wallpaper only affects the TF3D Home tab
- HTC Comm. Manager cannot turn Bluetooth on/off. (Go to Settings > Menu > Bluetooth Devices > Mode > Turn on/off Bluetooth)
- TF3D always uses the data connection for refreshing content/covers/contacts, etc.
- HTC Keyboard is not pre-installed as it causes issues with the hardware keyboard (Download FingerKeyboard or Spb Keyboard)
- HTC Messaging loads contact messages very slowly (Install HTC No Debug)
- On TF3D Home tab’s animated background the raindrops carry the clock digits
- HTC Calculator, Facebook, Opera 9.7 is not pre-installed
Additional notes:
- If Opera is installed the Internet tab in Manila 2.5 still links to Internet Explorer (Thread on HTCPedia.com)
- MrRusch has created a sexy skin for the bottom menu items
- Enable the 3G switch in HTC Comm. Manager

Hard Resetting the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1
If you’ve corrupted your stock Xperia ROM and want to recover or have installed a custom ROM and the publisher requires that you hard reset your Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 prior to using it here is how you do it…
- Turn off your Sony Ericsson Xperia X1
- Remove the battery and replace it back in
- Press and hold down the left and right silver buttons just under the screen
- With the stylus, press in the hole on the right side of the battery
- After 10 seconds, you will be prompted to press the R key on your slide-out keyboard
- If successful press the Space key on your slide-out keyboard to finalise changes
Mobile Wi-Fi Router in HTC Comm. Manager
Massive cheers in order for AssassinsLamen’s effort integrating HTC’s Mobile Wi-Fi Router into the latest HTC Comm. Manager!
Good news is the suite AL packed works great on Xperia’s Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 and includes:
- HTC Bluetooth Wizard
- HTC Wifi Sharing Utility
- HTC Phone and Pin Utility
- HTC Wifi Wizard
- HTC Communications Manager
- HTC Scroll DLL
…the bad news is it’s a bitch to install without the right tools… but I’m not one to leave readers in the dark so here’s the walkthrough.
- Download Comm Manager Suite w/ Wifi Sharing from XDA Developers
- Download Task Manager from XDA Developers
- Transfer Comm Manager Suite and Task Manager to your Xperia X1
- Install Task Manager
- Open Task Manager and close the Comm Manager task if it is open (even though it may not be visible in the Today Task Manager it often resides in memory)
- Install Comm Manager Suite w/ Wifi Sharing
- Restart your Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 when prompted
That’s it, open Comm. Manager and ensure the new featre works, report any bugs to the XDA Developers thread and support further development.
QR Reader for Windows Mobile
QuickMark have released a great 1D/2D barcode scanner for the Xperia X1 that supports standard barcodes as well as QR codes!
It uses the built-in camera of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 to detect barcodes and then auto-focuses the picture until it can read the barcode. It works a treat!
