Switching between ActiveSync and Flash disk mode
The Sony Ericsson X1 can connect to your Vista computer as an ActiveSync device appearing within Windows Mobile Device Center or alternatively make the storage card available as a standard flash disk drive.
A few of the benefits of using ActiveSync when connecting to your computer is:
- being able to access the storage card as well as the internal memory
- syncronise contacts, emails, tasks, notes and more with Microsoft Outlook
- ability to sync using Bluetooth where a physical connection is not suitable (e.g. in transit or at an airport)
There are times however where ActiveSync is either too slow and cumbersome or you just need to get in and out at top speed, here’s how you switch between ActiveSync/Flash disk mode.
- Open Start > Settings
- Switch to the Connections tab
- Open USB to PC
- To enable a different mode change between the ActiveSync and Flash disk radio button
- Press OK to confirm changes
That’s it, remember to switch back otherwise your Outlook backups and data will quickly become out of date!
